[kansas wind]

This was a totally spur-of-the moment shoot. I walked outside and felt the amazing, powerful wind, and grabbed Samantha, some saftey pins, a sheet, and some makeup to run out and capture the wondeful Kansas wind. I wish it had been a little later: it was around 2 pm when we shot, pretty much the worst time of day to shoot, and we weren't able to really find any shade, but you work with what you have! I used fill flash with some of these, some of them I didn't. I did do a lot of selective brightening in post, because the white would be bright while her skin was dark. Thanks to Sami for allowing me to use her as a model :)

the beginning of a lovely evening.
last night we visited Caleb and Micah's family and went to the park with them. it was soo much fun, just hanging out in the beautiful evening light and playing basketball, talking to the little kids and playing with them.

(L to R) Levi, Levi.

Justus bought a new bike with his birfday money. He is proud of it :) He likes silly bandz.

aaaand, he's adorable.

DAWWW. I'm finally getting Joshua to warm up to me juuust a little bit. He's soo cute and shy.

I played with him, rolling and throwing a ball around with him. the little dude's got some flexibility, haha.

some other girls that were at the park. Jasmine, Kayley, and Megan. sisters.

daaah. sooo adorable.

the traveling circus, haha.

*cough cough* Joshua and Kayley might have a small crush on each other... they kept hugging and petting each other on the head, hahahaha.

helping Megan blow the grass whistles.

She didn't really get it, haha..but it provided Samantha some much needed laughter, lols. (needed because I scared the willies out of her earlier that day and shaved about two years off of her life... hahaha)

BTW, I've gotten some very interesting answers in my polls... Now I'm curious to know who my obsessive checkers are, haha. Thanks to everyone for voting!!
creepy sam.

warning: photographer talk!
Set up: I used a long strip of insulation that I stole from Papa John and Grandma. I set it up on the floor, running behind and around samantha, so it wrapped around to camera left. Window light came in from camera right. We were rushed for time, so I only did one eye, haha... which is the reason you never see the other eye. *cough* "Fake it til you make it" is totally my mantra, haha. Never used  a reflector insulation before, so the last pictures of the shoot are much different than the first. Samantha is such an amazing/willing model. In fact, the light was so bright in her eyes that her eyebawls started watering. Trooper that she is, we kept going. Ok, back into the set up. The shiny background you see is, you guessed it, the reflector. In the next two photos, the sun is reflecting off of the portion you see and blowing it out to white, which I quite like. Also, I really have no idea about makeup either, I just decided to wing it, haha. The application isn't great, but I really like the colors for Sam and they're definitely what I was going for.
