[three oh two]

[three oh two]
7.20.11

      -Nighttime-
Darkness blankets the sky;
I look up and see His face.
Evening is a wondrous time
To contemplate His grace.

He calls me to His side
And holds me there;
To think that He would call me His child,
And watches me everywhere!

I praise Him for His infinite love,
Unchanging, true, and vast.
I wonder at the marvels around,
And long to be with Him at last.

4.1.11
Standing amidst the rubble
Of your own destruction and shame,
You cry out to God
And He touches your humble frame.

"Fear not, my child:
Though you once pushed me away,
I am ever patient
And redeemed you this day."

An original poem that came to me the other day.

The metal indians on the way to Emporia the yesterday. The clouds were
awesome. :) I heart KS.
Last night we watched Tangled at Aunt Cindy's house. It was really good :) It was just a really fun movie, even though they over-musicalized it imo. Although the duet *was* really pretty! Today I drew a picture of Rapunzel and Flynn :) :) :) Yeah... Dad, John, and Sam are working on our new deck! I'm so excited.. it's coming along quite well.

"Like some kinda heaven shinin' down on me..."

That reflection of the cloud was from the sky, not the camera. Crazy, huh?

Sylvers.

Sam..

[shakespeare]

A sea shell my aunt and uncle brought my sister and I when they came back from their honeymoon. They actually brought a whole bunch of them, that's just one. This picture is so soft and muted. Normally my pictures are full of color and very busy so this is a bit of a change for me.
I read to the kids quite a bit today; I read out of The Silver Chair to Joey, and then before bedtime I read a couple chapters from The Family Under the Bridge to the three littles, and then Go Dogs Go to Levi =) They are so cute. I need to spend more time with them.
So, some quotes for you =) I snagged this one from Mr. C.
"Reading, especially lectio divina, is not to be reduced to a task that somehow must be fitted in alongside other necessary occupations. To read well one must be at leisure. Disinterested reading involves moving into a different zone that permits placid reflection. A good book, like good wine, cannot be savored in a hurry. It needs room to breathe. A mind cluttered with many preoccupations is not free for reading, nor is a body that cannot sit still and let the world go by without it."

--Michael Casey, Strangers to the City

And this one from Noah's facebook status:
"Holding on to bitterness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die."
Don't know who said it... but it's so true.
"Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Shakespeare, sonnet 116

[seventy three]
Try it here.
Listen.

Got to talking with my grandpa on the way into church this morning; he was talking about letters, and it got me thinking. (Surmise among yourselves if that's a good thing.) One thing he said in particular was very poetic in expression: "Letters contain such sentimentality for a lot of people, that it comes across as almost criminal to consign them to the flames." I am very much like that. (a bit of quixoticness peeping out, perhaps?) I save almost all the letters I receive. Of course letters are not popular anymore; they are the hard way to communicate. They used to be the only method of communication between estranged friends and family. I still enjoy getting a letter from one of my friends so much more than receiving two lines on facebook. Unfortunately I am very remiss in sending letters =) So. The end result of this rambling is that I should write more letters but probably won't. =) I will try to get a better letter-themed picture someday.
The wind is blowing like there's no tomorrow out there; it's chilly and quiet in the house.

  - Kansas Day-
Outside my window trees gently sway.
Typical windy Kansas day!
Although today the trees aren't gently swaying; they're dancing violently!

A quote I found last night, for your personal edification. ;) "You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can't possibly live long enough to make them all yourself." Sam Levenson
And.. the grand conclusion to yesterday's post: This morning I was washing my face and when I reached for the towel to dry my face off, my arm knocked the hair brush off the counter. It landed about four inches away from the toilet! =) I seem to have a knack for this.
And... almost forgot, I realized the other day that my blog name could be taken two different ways: Almost quixotic, or practical *and* quixotic. Just curious, which way did you interpret it?
